I am an interpersonal therapist, working from a cognitive framework, assisting you in redefining how you perceive situations and rework your responses to circumstances. My approach to therapy is to help you gain the perspective needed to deal with life’s challenges and, especially, that which has brought you into counseling. I consider my job to be your guide and to create a safe space for you to examine your experiences, find relief and gain new understanding.
Together we will identify and reframe negative attitudes, while implementing more effective expression of emotions, clearer communication, and increased understanding of you and your partner’s behavior in interpersonal interactions. I will consistently engage with you (and your partner), while at the same time attend to what is happening between the two of you, and then explore that together in a way that you can really learn something on an intellectual and emotional level. What you learn you can then begin to use so that you can improve your quality of life, as an individual and as a partner.I integrate my experience and training in various treatment approaches to meet the individual needs of each client.
