Insurance
We will help you figure out if your insurance will cover part or all of the cost of therapy. Our practice is not “in network” on any insurance panels, but if you have “out of network” benefits, some or all of the cost may be covered. Please be aware that if you decide to use insurance, a formal mental health diagnosis must be made which will be a permanent part of your health care record.
If you are unsure about whether your policy covers out-of-network benefits (some do not), contact your company directly. Most plans will have a separate phone number on the back of the card for mental health/substance abuse benefits. Ask your representative all of the following questions:
- Do I have out-of-network benefits? (If not, under certain circumstances, the cost of therapy may be deducted as a medical expense on your taxes.)
- If so, do I have coverage for outpatient mental health counseling by a licensed professional counselor?
- If so, how many sessions am I provided per year and what is the “calendar year” of my policy?
- Do I have a deductible for these sessions, and if so, how much is it and how much has already been satisfied for this calendar year?
